Show the current Taskhold task in ccstatusline

Short answer: ccstatusline is a configurable Claude Code status line. Its Custom Command widget runs any command and shows the output, so taskhold-mcp statusline puts the task in progress, a ten-block bar and the running step next to your model, git branch and token count. Set the widget timeout to 3 seconds and a 10 second cache.
If you already run ccstatusline, you don't need Taskhold's own status line: add one widget and the line shows what your agents are doing, the same thing the live board shows in a browser. Without ccstatusline, use the one-command status line instead.
What you get
One widget in your ccstatusline layout that reads the task in progress from Taskhold and prints its title, a ten-block bar, percent done, steps done and the step that's running, for example: ▶ Deploy v2.4 to staging ███░░░░░░░ 33% 1/3 · Run migrations. With nothing in progress it reads "taskhold: nothing in progress".
Set it up
- Install the Taskhold CLI and save your key. It installs in ~/.taskhold, no sudo.
- Run ccstatusline's editor, add a Custom Command widget to a line, press e and enter the command below.
- Press t and set the timeout to 3000 ms. The default 1000 ms is shorter than Taskhold's 2.5 second fetch limit, so a slow first fetch would show [Timeout].
- Under Configure Status Line, set Custom Command Cache TTL to 10 seconds so repaints reuse the last answer.
curl -fsSL https://taskhold.com/install.sh | sh
taskhold-mcp login
npx -y ccstatusline@latest # opens the editor$HOME/.taskhold/bin/taskhold-mcp statuslineThe editor writes ~/.config/ccstatusline/settings.json. The widget ends up looking like this, if you'd rather edit the file:
{
"customCommandCacheTtlSeconds": 10,
"lines": [
[
{
"id": "taskhold",
"type": "custom-command",
"commandPath": "$HOME/.taskhold/bin/taskhold-mcp statusline",
"timeout": 3000,
"maxWidth": 70
}
]
]
}Claude Code needs ccstatusline as its status line command, with a refresh interval so the line updates while you are idle and another agent is working:
{
"statusLine": {
"type": "command",
"command": "npx -y ccstatusline@latest",
"padding": 0,
"refreshInterval": 10
}
}One limit to know
The widget shows one task: the one Taskhold returns as in progress for your account, which is the most recently active. If three agents are running, the line shows one of them. For all of them at once, keep the live board open or run taskhold-mcp watch in a spare pane (tmux works well).
See how far along your coding agents are.
$12/month or $120/year after the trial. Card up front. Cancel before day 7 and you pay nothing. Every agent you run is included.
