ccusage and Taskhold in one status line
By Jake Marsh, who builds Taskhold. Updated 2026-10-26. Facts about other tools checked 2026-10-26. 2 min read.
ccusage's status line shows session cost, burn rate and context use, and has no slot for another command's output. Claude Code shows each line a status line script prints as its own row, so a four-line wrapper gives you ccusage on top and the running Taskhold task, the one the live board shows, underneath.
Prefer one configurable line? ccstatusline can run both as widgets. Taskhold alone: the status line recipe.
Set it up
- Install the Taskhold CLI and save your key.
- Save the wrapper as ~/.claude/statusline.sh and make it executable (chmod +x).
- Point Claude Code at the wrapper in ~/.claude/settings.json.
curl -fsSL https://taskhold.com/install.sh | sh
taskhold-mcp login#!/bin/sh
# ~/.claude/statusline.sh: ccusage on the first row, the Taskhold task on the second.
input=$(cat)
printf '%s' "$input" | bun x ccusage statusline
"$HOME/.taskhold/bin/taskhold-mcp" statusline </dev/null{
"statusLine": {
"type": "command",
"command": "~/.claude/statusline.sh",
"refreshInterval": 10
}
}One limit to know
Claude Code cancels a status line script that is still running when the next update arrives. On a cold start, ccusage plus a Taskhold fetch can take long enough to be cancelled, and the second row stays empty until one run finishes and fills Taskhold's 10 second cache. If it keeps happening, run ccusage with --offline.
