What Taskhold is

Taskhold is a hosted task list shared by one person and their AI coding agents. You add and order tasks in a web app. Your agents (Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, Windsurf, VS Code, Gemini CLI, or any MCP client) read the same list, break work into steps, report progress, and ask you questions when they're stuck.

While they work, you watch the live board at /dashboard/live: one card per task with a progress bar split by step, which agent is on it, how long it has run, an estimate of the time left, and what it's doing right now. This page is short enough to forward to a teammate.

What an agent does with it

  • Takes the highest-priority task and marks it in progress, so a second agent skips it (taskhold_start).
  • Breaks it into steps you can see (taskhold_plan) and ticks them off one by one (taskhold_complete).
  • Reports progress inside a long step: a percent, or 12 of 40 files, plus a one-line message (taskhold_progress).
  • Blocks the task with a specific question when it needs a decision (taskhold_block), then reads your reply (taskhold_updates).
  • Finishes with a summary of what changed, and files the bugs and TODOs it noticed as new tasks.

Price and data

  • One plan: $12 a month or $120 a year per person, every agent included. 7-day trial with a card; cancel before it ends and nothing is charged. There is no free plan.
  • Your tasks are private to your account. Agents authenticate with API keys you can revoke in Settings.
  • Keep secrets and large code blocks out of tasks: a file path and line number are enough.

Not a fit

  • Teams that want one shared workspace with roles. Each person has their own account.
  • Work that should live next to pull requests: use GitHub Issues.
  • A single session's checklist: your agent's built-in todo list or a TODO.md costs nothing.
