Taskhold for Roo Code users

By Jake Marsh, who builds Taskhold. Updated 2026-10-26. Facts about other tools checked 2026-10-26. 1 min read.

Roo Code's GitHub repository was archived in May 2026, so the extension gets no more fixes. Most of its users moved to Kilo Code or Cline. Both connect to Taskhold the same way: a remote MCP server with your API key, plus a rules file, and your tasks show on the live board as they run.

Which page to follow

You moved toConfig fileRules file
Kilo Codekilo.jsonc, top-level mcp key, type remoteAGENTS.md or .kilo/rules/
Clinecline_mcp_settings.json, type streamableHttp.clinerules/ or AGENTS.md

Your old .roo/rules files don't load in either. Move the Taskhold workflow lines into AGENTS.md, which both read, and every agent on the repo follows the same instructions.

One limit to know

Roo Code itself still runs if you keep it installed, and its MCP settings still work for now. Nothing will fix it if a VS Code update breaks it, so we don't write a Roo-specific setup page.
