Show the current Taskhold task in Raycast

By Jake Marsh, who builds Taskhold. Updated 2026-10-26. Facts about other tools checked 2026-10-26. 1 min read.

Raycast Script Commands in inline mode show the first line of a script's output right in the command list and refresh it on a timer. With taskhold-mcp statusline, Raycast shows what your agents are doing every time you open it, a pocket version of the live board.

Want it in the menu bar instead? See SwiftBar and xbar. For alerts, see ntfy.

Set it up

  1. Install the Taskhold CLI and save your key with taskhold-mcp login.
  2. Save the script below as taskhold.sh in a folder, make it executable, and add that folder in Raycast under Settings > Extensions > Script Commands.
  3. Add the command to your favorites so it stays visible.
curl -fsSL https://taskhold.com/install.sh | sh
taskhold-mcp login
#!/bin/bash
# @raycast.schemaVersion 1
# @raycast.title Taskhold
# @raycast.mode inline
# @raycast.refreshTime 10s
# @raycast.packageName Taskhold
"$HOME/.taskhold/bin/taskhold-mcp" statusline </dev/null

One limit to know

The line lives in Raycast's window, not the macOS menu bar, so you see it when you open Raycast. Raycast refreshes at most the first 10 inline commands automatically, and 10 seconds is its shortest interval.
